Gender Identity: It’s A Girl!

Posted by: Bob McGarry

I’ve definitely never been a “girly” girl, though I do enjoy the occasional luxury and have been known to get overly emotional. (Though I myself do not feel getting emotional is characteristic of just girls.) I live in a home with all girls, so femininity is a huge aspect in the house, but is depicted through us I a number of ways.

National& Ethnic Identity: The Great Melting Pot!

I was born in the USA, the great melting pot! I myself am a great melting pot as well. From what I know, I’m Irish, Scottish, Native American, Dutch, French Canadian and so many more nationalities. I feel very lucky to live in a place that thrives on diversity.

Regional Identity: California

I’ve been a Southern California girl my whole life. I love the wide array of activities and attractions The Eureka State has to offer. I’ve always been keen on participating in as many of these as possible, from exploring Hollywood to snowboarding through Big Bear and surfing in Malibu. One cannot be more thankful to live here.

Organizational Identity: Life’s a Grind!

I work part time at a coffeehouse and go to school full time. The coffeehouse allows me to meet and connect so many wonderful people. While I love it, it is not a permanent thing, as I have been taught my whole life the great value of an education.

Age Identity: An Old Soul?

Posted by: Bob McGarry

I just turned nineteen.

Although I’m young I’ve been dealt out my fair share of responsibilities. For about a year I was the main caregiver and provider for my father, and that came with all the responsibilities a stereotypical wife would face.

That being said, I take every opportunity I can to be “immature”. I feel that as long as I continue to pay my bills, get good grades, and help others that I can act as crazy as I wish in my free time.

Religious Identity: I'm a Believer!

I grew up in a household that did not always stress religious practices. We went to church and put up a Christmas tree, but that was the extent of it all.

When I was about eleven I got very involved in my church. Whether it was donating my time and efforts or just striving for a closer relationship with God I was part of it.

My whole life I have loved reading myths and other religious texts, and around the time I was 16 I began to realize how much certain religions have in common. So while I still love my Christian faith, I also advocate understanding and respecting other religions.

And, to tell the truth, I take a lot of the morals from different religions and apply them to my like as well. It’s somewhat complicated, but it works and definitely promotes a more peaceful understanding of all faiths.

Social Identity: Hello, Good Friend.

Posted by: Bob McGarry

I’ve been blessed to share my life with so many amazing (and entertaining) people. A huge part of my family lives a large distance away, so besides my mother and sisters, our family friends really are, well, our family. I’ve always made friends quite easily. I have a small ground though that I’ve known my whole life.

All of us have great aspirations, but I know in my heart we will always return here, at least to visit, and support on another in our adventures. Without the people and connections I make with them, I would have nothing.

Sexual Orientation Identity: OoLaLa!

I’m lucky to be in a relationship with quite a nice boy at the moment. I’ve never been referred to as “boy crazy” but they are definitely nice to look at and spend time with. ☺ One day I’d actually like to get married, but that’s a distant thought.

Cyber/Fantasy Identity: 1’M no n00b!

Posted by: Bob McGarry

People are usually surprised to find out that I’m a complete CyberDork! It was definitely an addiction when I was younger, but no I have less time. I can write script codes, speak “1337” and still enjoy some online games. As far as fantasy goes, I’m an avid speaker of Ewok and a few other Star Wars languages. (Yes, I like communicating in whichever way I can. ☺)

Personal Identity: So Much Love!

I suppose I’m somewhat of a hippie. I love the environment, though that doesn’t necessarily sway any non-environmental political opinions.

I’ve always been talented at picking up languages. I can listen to it spoken for a few weeks and then join right in. As of now, I speak Spanish, Farsi and Cantonese (though probably not too well). One of my life’s goals is to fluently speak five languages. I hope to travel the world and connect with all sorts of people. I’ve also been told that I’m quite the chef, though even I cringe at some of my inventions.

I LOVE music. It makes the world brighter and helps in any mood. My favorite band is named “The Rocket Summer”- though I have hundreds of favorites. Every day I change my mind.

My tastes are very eclectic and I’m fascinated with the world around me. I feel that every day is a new, exciting discovery.

More than anything, I’ve always been a writer. I aspire to one day find my way into some form of the field, whether is be authoring, interviewing or reviewing.
